Higlett House Garden Shed Tour
Our Stilla garden shed might just be the cutest shed in town! We made a few customisations inside to turn this one into a practical and stylish space.
I love when normally boring looking things (i.e a tool shed) can be turned into a thing of beauty. Case in point - our new garden/tool shed from Stilla. This one is called ‘Ashgrove’ and is part of their Painted Shed Co range. As the name suggests, this shed comes pre-painted in your choice of two colours - Surfmist or Monument (and you can also get variations within this for example Surfmist walls with Monument trim and vice versa).
This shed comes as a kit with everything you need to put it together, including a treated pine frame, Weathertex panels, and Colorbond roof. You can even add a skylight or extra windows (we added one so it allows more natural light in, plus it overlooks our garden). There’s also a heavy-duty floor with 100 x 100 treated pine posts to suspend your shed so you can level it, this is especially handy for a sloping site.
We chose the smallest size shed for our backyard (1.24m x 2.4m), but there are other sizes available if you need something bigger (it could even be used as a backyard studio).
We did a few things to customise the interior of our shed, including lining the back wall with pegboard. I love pegboards in sheds, they give you so much flexibility for storing smaller tools. The upside to everything hanging on the wall - everything can be easily found. And if you need to reorganise, it’s a breeze, as you can just pull out the hooks and move. Both the pegboard and pegboard hooks were purchased from Bunnings.
On the two side interior walls, we used some leftover VJ panels from our house reno. These are the Classic VJ 100 from Surround By Laminex. It ties it all in with the exterior cladding and gives a coastal feel. I painted all of the interior walls in Surfmist to match the exterior. And I also painted the internal side of the doors in Dulux ‘Tranquil Green’ - a soft dusty sage colour.
Another thing we added internally was a LACK wall shelf from IKEA under the window. This makes good use of the space and a handy spot to store little tubs with smaller items for easy access. Underneath we have a IVAR storage box on wheels - this is the ideal spot for storing paint tins, I can just roll it in and out to find what I’m looking for. And lastly a BROR shelving unit from IKEA is a handy spot to put larger tubs and items.
