New coastal outdoor setting for Higlett House

With Summer just around the corner, I’ve given my deck out the back a little re-fresh with a new outdoor setting from Early Settler and Basil Bangs umbrella.

Summer is almost here and I wanted to change things up on our back deck. We don’t have a roof over this space (honestly due to a lack of renovation funds), so I needed a big umbrella to help shade this area. I’ve been eyeing off this Caspar umbrella from Basil Bangs for a while now, and knew it would fit with our Palm Springs aesthetic. I’ve gone for the sage green and white combo and I love it, it’s so stylish – plus it’s really big (with a diameter of 2.8m), making it a great choice for our large deck. We have a Basil Bangs umbrella stand on wheels which makes moving the umbrella around a breeze - it’s great because we can re-position the umbrella as needed throughout the day to get the shade in the right spot.

Incase you’re wondering, yes I’m still green-obsessed. So naturally I wanted to introduce some pops of sage green into this outdoor space with my new chairs from Early Settler. These are the ‘Jesi’ dining chair in leaf green and I just love the colour! I needed something not too precious out here, afterall they get a beating from the elements, so these were perfect as they are made from hardwearing polypropylene and UV stabilised. That being said, I’m keen to get an outdoor cover to cover up the chairs and table when not in use to keep them in pristine condition.

I’ve teamed our chairs with a simple aluminium table – this is the ‘Blake’ dining table from Early Settler. I chose it because it’s suitable for outdoors and our coastal environment. I have found it super easy to wipe down and keep clean too. Plus the classic silhouette means it can adapt to any style setting it’s in, it looks very coastal out here, and I’m loving how it suits our home’s exterior. It could just as easily fit into a more country aesthetic too (which I’m hoping to do for our next home).

I love how this re-fresh turned out! It’s given this very white space a pop of sage green colour and looks super fresh for summer. Plus it’s much more practical with the addition of this much larger umbrella.
